Constraint Induced Therapy At CarePartners

Constraint Induced Therapy (CIT) is an innovative approach to rehabilitation of stroke-related upper extremity movement deficits. It strives to help those who have had a stroke "re-wire" their brains and learn to re-use a weakened arm through systematic repetitive use strategies. A great majority of patients demonstrate impressive results with this therapy even up to 30 years post-stroke.

CIT highlights:

  • Intensive two-week outpatient program involving physical rehabilitation of the weaker hand and arm.
  • Patients work one-on-one with a trained physical therapist.
  • A padded mitt is worn 90% of the day to reinforce use of the weaker arm.
