Women's Center Passes
Mammography Inspection

On June 16, the Texas Department of State Health Services inspected the mammography system at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital Women's Center, which opened in June 2008. The mammography system inspection is done annually, and all of the digital mammography units and the stereotactic breast biopsy were inspected. No violations were found, and the Women's Center was granted a certificate of inspection. In addition, the credentials of the technologists and radiologists were verified, and all quality assurance and quality control tests were examined and found compliant.

"The certificate is issued only to those facilities that are clearly above the average in comparison with their peers," says Jerry Cogburn, Group Manager, Texas Department of State Health Services. "This unique certificate is only awarded to facilities that did not receive violations."

"With this certificate, the community should feel confident in the quality of care provided at the Women's Center," says Karla Vinson, Quality Assurance and Quality Control Coordinator for the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital Women's Center.
