Following the October opening of its new patient care pavilion and $300 million expansion, Methodist Sugar Land Hospital announced that Orthopaedic Specialists of Texas, one of the area's best-known and well-respected sports medicine and orthopedic surgery practices, has joined Methodist.

Methodist Orthopaedic Specialists of Texas, as it is now called, is one of the largest groups of board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons in Fort Bend County, with a focus on general orthopedic surgery and sub-specialties such as sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, total joint replacements, cartilage transplants, diseases and deformities of the spine, and treatment of hand, upper extremity, foot and ankle problems.

A Powerful Partnership
This relationship also gives Methodist Sugar Land Hospital extensive state-of-the-art rehabilitation and physical therapy facilities located in the Methodist Orthopaedic Specialists of Texas' building, just a few miles away from the hospital. Methodist Sugar Land Hospital's patients can now receive ongoing care provided by licensed physical therapists, aquatic therapists and occupational therapists, all close to home and guided by Methodist's world-renowned, values-based medical caregivers and personal, hands-on service.

"The powerful combination of Methodist Orthopaedic Specialists of Texas and Methodist Sugar Land Hospital provides direct benefits to patients," says Chris Siebenaler, chief executive officer of Methodist Sugar Land Hospital.

"Having the Orthopaedic Specialists of Texas join Methodist Sugar Land Hospital makes it convenient and easy for Methodist patients to receive top-quality orthopedic services close to home," Siebenaler says. "For example, Methodist patients who come through our emergency department receive priority service at Methodist Orthopaedic Specialists of Texas, which means that a child's broken arm or a weekend athlete's knee injury can be evaluated and treated by a board-certified specialist right away, rather than waiting for an open appointment days later."

The nine physicians who make up the Methodist Orthopaedic Specialists of Texas staff are all deeply involved in giving back to the community – from serving as team physicians for local school districts to giving of their time to charitable medical care programs.
