Under the direction of Hosun
Hwang, M.D., medical director of the
Spine Center, the multidisciplinary
team encompasses neurologists,
neurosurgeons and orthopedic
spine surgeons, as well as nurse
practitioners, physical therapists,
rehabilitation specialists and other
professionals specially trained in
diagnosing and treating back and neck pain. Patients also benefit from
the latest diagnostic and therapeutic
technology, as well as state-of-the-art
systems for maximum comfort and safety.
Treatment options available through
the Spine Center include physical
therapy that utilizes specific exercises,
manual therapy, aquatic therapy,
traction, and modalities such as heat
and electrical stimulation to treat back
pain due to nerve or musculoskeletal
problems. Some patients may benefit from physical medicine and
rehabilitation to enhance and restore
functional ability and quality of life for
those with back pain. When surgery
is necessary, new, minimally invasive
techniques yield remarkable success in
reducing pain, preventing permanent
injury and restoring function.

|The new Human Performance Lab at
Methodist Willowbrook Hospital is the first
of its kind in northwest Houston to bring the
technology and expertise once only
available at the Texas Medical Center to the
community. Three primary tests – resting
metabolic rate and body composition
analysis, VO2 max with body composition
and VO2 max with estimated lactate
threshold – provide endurance athletes with
valuable tools for training and aid bariatric
patients in meeting pre-surgery requirements
and sustaining post-surgery weight loss.
The lab is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with evening
appointments available on Wednesdays and
weekend appointments on Saturday
