Senior prom promises a night to remember

Are you ready for a night of glitz and glamour? Now is the time to pull out those dancing shoes and start practicing your moves in preparation for the Third Annual Senior Select Senior Prom.

This fabulous night is sponsored by Senior Select, Inter Valley Health Plan, High Desert Primary Care, Alliance Physicians and Premier Healthcare, and is set for April 26 at the Ambassador Hotel in Victorville. It is a popular event - about 200 current or aspiring Senior Select members came out to dance to the tunes of Swing 4 Sale last year. Swing 4 Sale will be back this year with its great big-band sound to keep dancers swirling and twirling.

Dancing stars
One of the highlights of the evening is a dance competition and the selection of the Prom King and Queen. Competition is tough with a panel of judges made up of representatives from Inter Valley Health Plan as well as founding sponsors of Senior Select - St. Mary Medical Center, High Desert Primary Care, Alliance Physicians and Premier Healthcare. The panel will select the top three couples as finalists.


"The couples on the dance floor were so graceful and at the same time, so energetic," explains Monica Crow of Inter Valley Health Plan and one of last year's judges. "It was virtually impossible to select just one favorite. Each time we thought we had our three choices, we had to re-think our decision. There was no shortage of dipping, twirling and fancy footwork."

Once the three finalists are chosen, it is the audience members' turn to cast their votes for the winner. Through applause and cheers, the audience members will select the Prom King
and Queen.

In 2007, Victor and Pevin Munoz from Hesperia reigned supreme and took home the coveted title. Victor and Pevin were one of 12 couples who participated in the dance-off, gracing the floor to two musical numbers.

Fun for all
For those who aren't big dancers, there is also the fun of exciting raffles and great food to enjoy at the prom. Many of last year's attendants went home with prizes, graciously donated by Inter Valley Health Plan, High Desert Primary Care, Alliance Physicians, Premier Healthcare, St. Mary Medical Center, JRZ Photography and the band Swing 4 Sale. Prizes ranged from gift certificates for major retailers, garment products, memorabilia, movie packages, baskets of gourmet edibles and much more. You won't want to miss this year's prom and great prizes, so be sure to RSVP soon as tickets go fast.
