Two Nurses Honored for Outstanding Care![]() Sheri Troedel, RN ![]() Lisa Denny, RN
St. Helena Hospital Clearlake is well-known for offering
excellent care to the communities it serves. This year, we
received formal recognition for our superb nursing care in
the form of two DAISY Awards.Sheri Troedel, RN, was honored with the hospital's first DAISY Award in February 2009. “Sheri was recognized for her clinical excellence and bringing something extraordinary to the care of her patients,” says Joan Rogers, chief nursing officer at St. Helena Clearlake. “She consistently goes beyond the call of duty as a team player and helps whenever there is a need.” Fellow St. Helena Hospital Clearlake nurse Lisa Denny, RN, received the DAISY Award in May. “Lisa consistently thinks of her patients' mental well-being in addition to their physical issues,” states Rogers. “She makes sure they are balanced and their needs are met. That is Lisa's gift. She delivers compassionate care and strength to her patients every day.” DAISY stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. The foundation was formed in January 2001 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at age 33 of complications of an immune system disease. The Barnes family was deeply moved by the kind and compassionate care Patrick received from his nurses and established the DAISY Award to honor them and their son's memory. “Both Sheri Troedel and Lisa Denny are shining examples of
what nursing is all about, and we are honored to have them at
St. Helena Hospital Clearlake.”
“The DAISY Award was created to honor individuals who
exemplify the best in nursing care,” says Rogers. “Both
Troedel and Denny are shining examples of what nursing
is all about, and we are honored to have them at St. Helena
Hospital Clearlake.” Thanks from Our PatientsWe receive numerous letters, e-mails and telephone calls from thankful patients and their families. Below are two that we recently received.Heartfelt AppreciationIt is with heartfelt appreciation that I express my gratitude for the excellent service I received from your staff during a medical emergency. Although the emergency room was very busy, the doctor and nurses managed to tend to me promptly, relieve my pain and provide a diagnosis. I greatly appreciate the care I received and want to thank the doctors and the staff for a job well done. It is good to know we have such a great hospital in our community.Camaraderie and CompassionThis is my second time as a Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program patient. The program picked me up and got me back on my feet again after a medical setback. It not only helped me become physically strong, but also mentally strong by helping me feel good about myself. Nancy and the staff helped me work through my panic attacks with breathing techniques and pacing exercises. The staff treated me professionally and with integrity. The camaraderie was very powerful and I am truly thankful. |
