Introducing the Martin-O'Neil Cancer Center

The Most Complete and Advanced Cancer Center in the North Bay

David Tate, MD, Radiation Oncologist; Cindi
Cantril, RN, Nurse Navigator; and Gregory Smith, MD, Medical Director and Medical Oncologist

Holly’s mind has been racing since a follow-up with her internal medicine physician. “I have breast cancer…”
she repeats in disbelief, as she stands alone in her kitchen. Holly tries to remember exactly what the doctor had advised—something about finding a surgeon and a nearby infusion clinic.

Her eyes focus on a crayoned picture hanging on the refrigerator. Holly smiles at the memory of her daughter carefully drawing her likeness and writing “Mom” underneath it. Then her gaze moves to the magnet holding the picture. “Hope, health and healing,” she reads aloud as she reaches for the phone and dials the number on the magnet.

“Hello, Martin-O’Neil Cancer Center, this is Marjorie,” a warm and friendly voice says. “How can I help you today?”

The new Martin-O’Neil Cancer Center will help people like Holly find the most advanced cancer care in the region—in one convenient, close-to-home location at St. Helena Hospital. Top medical, radiation and surgical oncologists and research staff use the latest technology to diagnose and treat cancer.

And the state-of-the-art center also emphasizes aesthetic qualities, with beautiful artwork, gardens and
spacious accommodations. But what makes the cancer center truly stand out is the way patients and their
family members will feel, beginning with their first encounter.

“Getting diagnosed can be a scary time, but it’s our goal to offer a safe haven,” says JoAline Olson, former President and CEO of St. Helena Hospital and now Vice President for Clinical Innovations for all Adventist Health hospitals. “We want you to be able to breathe a sigh of relief and say, ‘I’ve found the right place.'”
