St. Helena Hospital Opens
Trinchero Surgery Center
St. Helena Hospital has expanded its surgery capacity with the opening of the Trinchero Surgery
Center, named in honor of Napa Valley residents Louis “Bob” and Evalyn Trinchero.
The 12,500-square-foot center features
two surgical suites that will be used for
inpatient and outpatient surgery and
two rooms for minor procedures such as
colonoscopy. The side-by-side surgical suites
are equipped with the latest LED lighting and
integrated ceiling-mounted equipment that
floats across the operating field area. There
are 10 semi-private patient beds for pre- and
post-surgery preparation and recovery.
The surgery center was named after the
Trincheros in honor of the $2.5 million
donation they made to the St. Helena Hospital
Foundation's Caring for the Future capital
campaign. The family has a long association
with the hospital, and Bob serves on the
foundation board, where he recently
served as a co-chair of the successful
$36 million campaign.
"It was my hospital in 1948 when my family
moved here, and it is still my hospital today,"
Bob says. "It's been my privilege over these
many years to be closely associated with
St. Helena Hospital as a patient, family member
of patients, and as a member of the foundation
board. My experience and that of my family
members as patients have shown us that the
hospital provides top-quality care that is not
common in rural areas like ours."
Bob is chairman of the board of Trinchero
Family Estates, which owns Sutter Home
Winery and several other brands. Evalyn was
an active partner in the family business until
1985, when she retired to focus on her family
and passion for philanthropy.
"Bob and Evalyn have been incredibly generous
to St. Helena Hospital in so many ways over the years, and we are grateful for their strategic
giving," says St. Helena Hospital Foundation
President Elaine John. "They have exhibited a
keen interest in helping the hospital acquire the
latest technologies and also support wellness
initiatives to ensure that the best quality health
care is available in the Napa Valley."
St. Helena Hospital’s new MRI can produce detailed
cross-sectional or three-dimensional images inside the body.

High-Definition MRI
St. Helena Hospital now has an advanced MRI system
that delivers highly detailed images of the human
body with increased speed, better resolution and
unique applications.
The machine was recently installed in the new
Johnson Pavilion, and it replaces the hospital's mobile
unit. "This will make MRI scans more readily available
and convenient for the community," says Terry
Newmyer, hospital president/CEO. "This advanced
technology provides shorter exams and greater
comfort for patients, while providing higher diagnostic
confidence for doctors."
Short for magnetic resonance imaging, MRI is a
diagnostic technique that uses a magnetic field rather
than radiation (used in X-rays) to produce detailed,
cross-sectional or three-dimensional images from
inside the body. The scans are often used to diagnose
tumors or growths as well as to look at blood flow
and organ function throughout the body. The test is
painless and non-invasive.
To schedule an MRI with your doctor's referral,

department at 707-963-6570.
